Friday Fly of the Week: Overcome Your Fear Of Flying

Friday, September 3rd, 2010

Kids! Don’t let the fear of boarding an airplane stop you from exploring the world. On board a plane – either a Boeing or those 5-seater aircraft – is not so bad. It’s normal to feel nervous, that’s why ActionJetz has come up with tips that will help you overcome your fear of flying.

1. Be informed.
Learn about the things you need to expect before, during, and after a flight.  This will make you more comfortable with all the usual sights and sounds on-board.  You can even talk to your parents or friends about their experiences while flying, and you’ll soon realize how flying can be an exciting experience

2. Imagine riding your favorite bike.
Close your eyes and imagine the first time you got on your first bike.  It seemed scary at first, but when you start to discover the places you can explore and meet new friends, it gets more exciting and enjoyable.   It could be a bumpy ride but it’s all worth the adventure.

3. Enjoy the flight.
Choose a seat on the most stable part of the plane – the wing side – because this area absorbs the least turbulence that should make your flight very convenient and flying experience pleasantly memorable.

Conquer your fear of flying and experience the exciting adventure of flying.

Friday Fly of the Week: Airplane in Movies

Friday, August 13th, 2010

Howdy kids!

Can you name at least 3 movies that featured airplanes in them? This week, ActionJetz is listing down 3 of the most popular airplanes in movies. It’s time to fasten your seatbelt and get ready to take off.

# 1 Boeing 747-200B in “Air Force One”
Air Force One is the air traffic callsign of any aircraft carrying the American president.

In 1997, Harrison Ford plays the role of a former US Air Force officer who became US  President.  On his flight back to America aboard Air Force One, six Soviet terrorists hijacked the plane – a situation that compelled the president to utilize his knowledge and skills as a former air force officer.

The movie became major box office success and received good reviews from movie critics and regular movie goers.  Director Wolfgang Petersen said that while the real Air Force One did not have the amenities as seen on the film, he supposes that it would be added by future governments.

#2 Warplanes in “Top Gun”
Released in 1986, Top Gun featured Tom Cruise (as Lt. Maverick Mitchell) as a young naval aviator aboard the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise. The movie showcased Mitchell’s journey and challenges while training for warplanes like F-14A Tomcat and VF-51.

Top Gun popularized the line, “I feel the need … the need for speed.” and its signature vie theme, “Take My Breath Away”.

# 3 TWA Boeing 707 in “Airplane”
Airplane is a classic comedy film, shown in 1980. The film narrated the adventure of  ex-fighter pilot Ted Striker who he decided to face his fear of flying. The TWA Boeing 707 model was the plane used throughout the film.

Airplane’s box office success made TWA one of the most popular airplanes in movies.
