Friday Fly of the Week: Matching Jetz

How well do you know your jet? Can you match the picture of the Actionjet to their corresponding name? And can you do it in 20 seconds or less?

Then go ahead and try the Matching Jetz game!

Now time for some trivia! Do you like to know the basic parts of a Jet Airplane? Here are they:

Fan - The fan is the first component in a turbofan. The large spinning fan sucks in large quantities of air. Most blades of the fan are made of titanium.

Compressor - The compressor squeezes the air that enters the jet into smaller areas to increase in the air pressure.

Combustor – In the combustor the air is mixed with fuel and then ignited. There are as many as 20 nozzles to spray fuel into the airstream. The mixture of air and fuel catches fire.

Turbine - The high-energy airflow coming out of the combustor goes into the turbine, causing the turbine blades to rotate.

Nozzle – The nozzle is the exhaust duct of the jet engine. This is the jet engine part which actually produces the thrust for the plane. The combination of the hot air and cold air are expelled and produce an exhaust, which causes a forward thrust.

Airplane Game of the Day: B2-Attack with the B-2 Spirit Handheld

Mission:
Save the city, destabilize the enemy forces by destroying their tanks. Destroy as many as you can.

Controls:
Use left and right arrow keys on your keywboard to fly into position. Bomb the enemy tanks using spacebar. Remember, your B2-Spirit is too high above the ground so there is a 5-second delay before the bomb hits the target. You got to have the perfect timing before dropping bombs.

Inventory:

Before you jump there in the fantastic World of Actionjetz, here’s some trivia for you pilot:

The free airplane games that we know now actually evolved from one person who braved the skies to do the first ever game of flight: to conquer the air with a personally-designed airplane!

The first person to conquer the air was Otto Lilienthal from Germany. In the 1880’s he was already writing a book of aerodynamic data which became the greatest influence for the design of an airplane. Otto himself not only wrote about flying, but he actually flew as well, though not with an engine powered craft. Instead, his early invention was a glider in which his body swung from below. His philosophy was to first get up in the air, fly around on his gliders, and obtain the feel of an airplane before putting an engine in.

It takes a little imagination and a brave spirit to conquer your dreams, pilot!
